What is Skanda Mata Pooja?

Hindu Mythology dedicates the fifth day of Navaratri to the humble and pious mother (Ma Parvati) of Kumar Kartikeya or Skanda or Lord Murugan, so she is also referred as Skanda Mata. During the fierce war between Gods and demons, Kartikeya, as commander-in chief of Devas, and in the form of Skanda had to come to rescue and became a savior. His glory has also been mentioned in Puranas, where he is referred as Shaktidhar. Skanda Mata Pooja is way to worship the mother of Skanda to achieve the Visuddha chakra state. In this form, she holds the infant Skanda in her lap sitting in meditation posture, which is also called as Padmasana. On the Panchami of Navratri festival, Durga is in her most benevolent and motherly form mesmerizing the devotees with her purity.

Significance of this Pooja:

Mata Skanda is worshipped on the fifth day to attain the state of immense peace and calmness. She is the sole source of granting a meaning life without unworthy tensions and worries. This motherly form fulfils her devotees’ wish and bestows them with divine luster and spark to achieve salvation.
