About this Pooja

As per our Hindu Puranas, on the occasion of Dusshera or popularly known as Vijaydashmi, lord Rama killed Ravana and conquered Sri Lanka. To celebrate this victory, effigies of Ravana, his son Meghnad and brother Kumbhkarana are burnt as the special attraction.

We organize special Poojas of lord Rama, Laxman, goddess Sita and Hanuman.

In addition to the above, after 9 divine nights of Navaratri, comes Dusshera or Vijayadashami when we celebrate victory of goddess Durgas over devils as victory of good over evil. In Bengal, Dusshera is celebrated as Durga Pooja. Idols of the goddess Durga are worshipped for nine days, and on the tenth day immersed in a body of water, such as a river or pond.
